SUMMER STYLE TIPS FOR MEN
Fall is menswear's favorite season. It's chilly enough to start layering a bit, but not so cold as to where you need to bundle up with a heavy coat. Typically, most men can easily look pretty stylish once the leaves start to fall.
Summer is a different story. Guys ask me all the time, "How do I dress for the summer?". It's a good question. The heat and humidity don't allow you to do much, but there are plenty of ways to still look incredibly stylish during the summer.
Below, I've put together a few rapid-fire tips that can help you look a bit better now that we're in the warmer months...
-It's not about taking off more and more clothing. At some point, you reach a cap for how much you can remove without breaking the law, and no one ever looks stylish in a tank top. It's about fabric. We want to get you lighter-weight summer fabrics like Linen, Chambray, Light Cotton, and Tropical Wool. You can then wear loads of items that traditionally would feel too heavy to wear, such as light jackets, overshirts, button-down shirts, trousers, etc. Exampled below. I wear jackets in the summer and feel just fine, as they're so light weight I can hardly feel them.
-Wear elevated versions of summer items. Most guys tell me they're just a shorts and t-shirt type of guy. All good and fine, but why don't we just elevate that a bit?
Instead of a tee, wear a nicer polo (not something you'd wear golfing please). Instead of an athletic short, wear something that feels more elevated with a cuff and a pleat. Instead of running shoes or sandals, wear a leather sneaker or suede loafer. It's these small tweaks that will really make an outfit stand out, taking simple items, but elevating them to something that looks like this...
-Do not stop layering and accessorizing. I'll give you one of the easiest stylish summer outfits. Take a good-fitting white tee, and throw a lightweight short-sleeve shirt on top. You're done. Extra points if you throw a watch or bracelet on as well.
Guys throw layering out the window when it's hot out, not realizing that if you wear something lightweight, you hardly even notice it. It gives you the chance to show some personality and add dimension, rather than just wearing a plain tee or tank top.
(This one below is from one of my favorite brands I've written about before, Percival, which is about to blow up. The Avengers actor, Chris Evans was just seen wearing this exact shirt. Get it while you can.)
Summer style is super easy, everyone just makes it difficult because they have no other solution to the heat than taking off more clothing.
Here's the summary... Get some lightweight fabrics like linen. Grab some elevated shorts in grayscale colors. A pair of leather sneakers or two. Great fitting plain tees to go under some of those layering pieces, and a couple of overshirts that make a statement.
Congratulations, we've handled summer.
But, if you need more help, you know what to do.
