If you’ve been paying attention to fashion for the last few years, or just happen to live in any major city, you’ll have noticed that both men and women are wearing looser, more relaxed fits of clothing these days.

This, I should add, shouldn’t mean much to you.

I’ve talked to thousands of guys about their style challenges over the last decade, and many tell me, "I just don’t know where to start." So today, we’ll go over how to build a simple wardrobe from scratch with ten items.

When you work with me, we get clothing based on your style, sizing, location, industry, coloring, etc.

This is more of a starter pack that applies to everyone. The goal is versatility. If we only have ten items, we have to make it all count. I've included a variety of brands for different price points, but never at the sacrifice of quality.

Linen is a natural fiber made from Flax. It's highly breathable, doesn't stick to your skin when you sweat, and it's a good conductor of heat and absorber of moisture.

It's been used in summer menswear for ages. Couple that with a crisp white color that reflects light and pairs with anything; you're good to wear a white linen shirt all season long. And you probably should.

This is actually a piece that you can dress up or down to a certain extent either way.

The more I’ve worked with men over the past decade, the more I’ve realized that a stylish closet is like an ecosystem.

Let’s use an example of an ecosystem most people know - a garden. Having a good-looking garden is nearly the same as having a good-looking closet.
