The Single Best Deodorant For Men

the-best-deodorant-for-men-review.png

Am I really writing a post about men’s deodorant?

Yes.

And no, this isn't a sponsored post.

Another sartorially savvy friend of mine recently proclaimed over drinks (this is what I talk about at bars) that he has found the best deodorant there is for men.

“Bullshit,” I said. “I know the best deodorant there is for men. I’ve never seen another guy use it.”

We both show our cards.

Turns out, we’re using the same thing. This is stuff that seriously happens in my life. Anyway, I felt compelled to share it with you.

Overworking armpits and unsightly pit stains plagued my younger years. I can’t think of a good biological reason that we nervously sweat before important events other than - God has a sense of humor.

So I was always on the hunt for a good deodorant, and I tried everything. Somewhere along the way, I grabbed what I would use till this day (and probably forever).

Mitchum Clinical Smart Solid Unscented Deodorant.

This one.

That was it for me.

So why do I love it?

It works.

I don’t know what is in it. I don’t care. It’s the first brand that delivers for me.

It’s unscented.

I’ve spoken about using unscented products before. It’s necessary to use an unscented deodorant if you’re using cologne. You don't want your scents competing. This stick has no scent and allows whatever fragrance I put on to shine through.

It’s cheap.

It costs around four dollars. I would pay triple that.

You can find it everywhere.

There’s a good shot they stock it at your local deodorantery.

It works all day.

I don’t think about it after I apply it. If you've ever caught yourself reapplying mid-day, you are probably using a sub-par stick.

No white residue.

I’ve used other deodorants that claim to be invisible. Someone always points out the white streaks on my shirt about an hour later. This one goes on clean and doesn’t leave a mark.

The negative...

If you buy this from a seller whose product has been sitting around, the sticks can get dry and break up. Unfortunately, there is no way to know how fresh your dealer's supply is. In my years of using this, it’s only happened to me twice.

The other thing to note is that if you’re taking a chemical-free approach to life, this isn’t for you. It doesn’t have anything that your standard deodorants don’t have, but it’s not 100% gluten free, certified organic. You get the idea.

If you’ve been struggling to find a decent deodorant for yourself, I’d give this one a try. I've also used other stuff in the Mitchum line-up before with good success.

Before we end, I should note that there is a distinction between deodorant and antiperspirant. Deodorant masks the scent of body odor, while antiperspirants actually block the sweat from being produced. Most formulas today provide both. The two terms are used pretty interchangeably these days and most people just call the product "deodorant". For ease, I've just used the term "deodorant" in this post.

Leave a comment if there's a product you've used that we should all know about.
